The State Prison Lightshow will brighten the skies of Lee at an outdoor shin-dig at the Sugar Shack in early June.
"(Outdoor) shows are our favorite. There’s no limitation to space," says lightshow’s Mike Mc Glone.
The doings start mid day. Bands include JABE, Vitamin C, Shagbark, Solid8 and Amorphous Band.
Later that month SPLS will head to Virginia where they’ll work as apprentices for lighting-legend Tim Pace of Light Works Planet Earth. As if that weren’t great enough, the show they’ll work will feature the Allman Brothers Band and include Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Little Feat.
"He’ll be teaching SPLS members the old-school tricks and techniques of ’60s psychedelic lightshows," says Mc Glone. "This is the first time we’ll be working with him live. … He’s teaching us stuff that isn’t published … that went away in the ’70s."
The band hopes to work future events with Pace including Aerosmith, Dave Matthews and Kiss shows.
"It’s bizarre. Our first light show was out in the woods. Now we’re doing this, we’re pretty happy with our progress," says Mc Glone.
